“Being yourself, even in a wedding dress.” This is the philosophy behind soi., the Tokyo-based bridalwear label founded by Ayana Mizukasa. On September 29, 2026, during Paris Fashion Week, the designer presented her Spring/Summer 2027 collection in the French capital for the first time. Entitled The Final Shape | Chrysalide de l’Aube, the collection offered a delicate take on bridalwear, where personal expression matters more than convention.
A Wedding Dress in the Heart of Paris
There could hardly have been a more fitting setting for soi.’s Paris debut than the elegant ballroom of the Mairie du 15e arrondissement. With its Art Deco architecture and historic interiors, the venue brought a sense of grandeur to a collection built around one of fashion’s most enduring symbols: the wedding dress.

Yet these creations were never simply about tradition. Their appeal lay in the way they reimagined bridal elegance, balancing refinement with a sense of freedom. For a moment, the town hall’s ceremonial setting and the collection’s contemporary spirit seemed to meet halfway.
Ayana Mizukasa and the Freedom to Evolve
Founded in Tokyo in 2022, soi. was born from a simple but deeply personal desire: to create wedding dresses that Ayana Mizukasa herself would love to wear. Despite having no formal background in the fashion industry, the designer turned her fascination with bridalwear into a label that places individuality at its heart.

For The Final Shape, that philosophy takes on a more introspective dimension. Inspired by the transformation of a chrysalis into a butterfly, the collection considers beauty not as a finished state, but as an ongoing process of becoming. Satin, organza, tulle, and lace lend themselves to soft, fluid silhouettes that seem to embrace the body without defining it too rigidly.
This presentation also held a particular significance for Mizukasa. After four years of developing soi. and searching for its identity, she chose Paris as the setting for her final international show for the time being. Not an ending in the strictest sense, but a moment to reflect on how far the brand has come before moving towards something new.

Twelve Silhouettes, A New Chapter
Across twelve looks, soi. offered a vision of bridalwear that felt romantic without being overly traditional, delicate without sacrificing character. Refined fabrics and graceful lines gave the collection its understated charm, while the silhouettes left room for the personality of the woman wearing them to take centre stage.
There was something quietly captivating about these creations. Presented in such an elegant setting, they made bridalwear feel less like a prescribed ideal and more like an invitation to imagine oneself differently. One could almost find oneself ready to put a ring on it.
For soi., however, Paris was never meant to be a final destination. As Mizukasa brings this chapter of international presentations to a close, The Final Shape leaves behind a more compelling idea: that finding your own shape means never having to stop changing. We look forward to seeing what soi. becomes next.
