We have been documenting Laduma Ngxokolo’s journey for several seasons now, and watching MAXHOSA AFRICA evolve in Paris is always a moment we look forward to. On September 28, 2026, the South African house reached a historic milestone. Stepping up from their previous Paris presentations, the brand delivered its very first full runway show at the official residence of the South African Ambassador to France. Entitled Izihlwele Zivumile, meaning The Ancestors Have Approved, the show marked sixteen years of dedication, craftsmanship, and international growth.

A Shift Toward Refined Craftsmanship
For this milestone runway, the house shifted toward a cleaner and more monochromatic visual language, allowing the architecture of the garments, the complex knitwear, and the construction to take center stage. The runway floor was lined with hand-woven grass mats, creating an immediate physical connection to South African ancestral home life right in the heart of Paris. Accompanied by a live performance from multi-award-winning artist Sjava, the collection felt grounded yet sophisticated, blending traditional Xhosa heritage with modern luxury tailoring.
The styling incorporated sculptural eyewear made from discarded objects, as well as custom tote bags handed to guests, a thoughtful alternative to single-use gifts that extended the show’s story beyond the venue.

A Moment of Unity and Recognition
The atmosphere inside the venue was electric, bringing together an extraordinary crowd of all backgrounds and origins to celebrate African luxury on its own terms. Closing with a powerful poem written by Thebe Ikalafeng, the presentation was a declaration of identity and responsibility. For us at Usuel Magazine, attending this official runway debut was a reminder of why we continue to champion Laduma’s work season after season, and we left with both inspiration and the satisfaction of seeing true persistence rewarded.
